Macdaleine is a chemical engineer & hardware program manager turned writer/director based in Brooklyn. Her stories center the ordinary travails of often ignored characters while spotlighting questions of power and class in our society. She is a Princess Grace Foundation Artist (Film 2023) and a 2023-2024 Gotham Marcie Bloom Fellow. Her thesis short film, The Harvest, in-post production, was the recipient of the 2024 NYU Fukunaga Production Fund. Her project, City on Fire, was a finalist for NYU’s Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize. Her debut narrative short film, dis•chord, won the Sara Driver Production Award as well as the Black Family Film Prize at NYU’s Graduate Film Program.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from MIT and MFA in Film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her technical background informs the scientific themes in her stories. When she isn’t thinking about stories, Macdaleine can be found hurling a barbell overhead with her Olympic weightlifting teammates.
