Macdaleine is a first-generation, Haitian-American writer/ director. She writes stories that capture the nuanced, extraordinary experience of ordinary, Black life where characters seek freedom from the systems, structures and ideas that hold them trapped.
She is a 2023 Princess Grace Foundation Honorarium recipient in Film and a 2023 Gotham Marcie Bloom Fellow. She was a NYU 2023 Sloan Feature Award Finalist. She received the 2022 Black Family Film Prize, the 2022 Sara Driver Production Award, and NYU’s 2020 Tisch Initiative for Creative Research HEAR US grant.
Macdaleine is completing her MFA in Film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has a Bachelor of Science from MIT and a Master of Science in Energy and Processes from ÉNSPM in France. Macdaleine previously worked in Hardware Manufacturing Program Management at both Apple and Square from 2013 to 2020. Her engineering background informs the scientific themes that intersect her characters’ lives.
